First Treatment Visit
If you are a new patient to Olive Tree Dental a new patient exam is carried out first to ensure you are dentally fit for the treatment. Decay, infections, or gum disease will need to be treated prior to cosmetic dental treatment such as teeth whitening.
A comprehensive assessment is then undertaken. Digital scans are taken to obtain measurements of your teeth, which will be used to create the whitening trays.

We will closely study your smile and the elements that make it unique to you, so that we can gain valuable insight that will allow us to successfully plan your smile design. Your treatment will never be rushed, as we will always make sure you are happy before proceeding to the next stage of the process.
Second Treatment Visit
Your whitening trays are now ready, and you can take home the whitening gel provided as part of the Enlighten™ package. The gel provided will depend on your level of tooth sensitivity. The gels are used overnight for 10-14 days, depending on the strength used and the desired result.
Third Treatment Visit (review)
We will invite you back in for a review. The whitening solution is placed into the trays, and a whitening light and accelerator is used. The teeth will be whitened in multiple 10/15-minute sessions, until the desired result is achieved, or the highest possible shade has been reached. At this point we can discuss other treatment options if you are interested in further enhancing your smile after the Whitening is complete.
Patient Promise
Enlighten™ is the only whitening treatment to guarantee a B1 shade – the whitest natural shade.
Staining foods, e.g. coffee, red wine may cause whiteness to fade.
We advise to top up whitening at home for 1 night every 2/3 months to maintain the white shade.
We will demonstrate how to apply the whitening gel to the trays before treatment begins. It’s a super easy and hassle-free process. If you’re at all unsure how to apply the gel once you get home, please don’t hesitate to contact the practice – we can point you in the direction of helpful tutorials and videos and talk you through them if you wish.
Once the gel is applied, it becomes oxidised, breaking down the staining bonds, and scattering the molecules. Once these bonds are scattered, your teeth appear whiter in shade, with a more pleasing and natural-looking shade having been revealed.
Professional teeth whitening carried out by a dentist is 100% bespoke. The whitening trays are made for your teeth, and use low concentration gel. DIY kits on the other hand, use illegal levels of peroxide gel, putting your teeth and gums at risk of untold damage.
Reputable brands such as Enlighten™ have extremely high patient satisfaction rates and are dentist-approved, making treatment safe, easy, and producing a uniform white result, as long as the gel is correctly applied (some DIY kits can leave your teeth look multiple shades of white which we absolutely want to avoid!)
Both Boutique whitening and our other choice of tooth whitening brand (Enlighten™) have different strengths of hydrogen peroxide and carbamide, so we can adjust these strengths if you begin to experience sensitivity during your treatment. Both of our teeth whitening brands encompass after-care toothpaste, which can help to keep sensitivity minimal.
