Olive Tree Dental in Reading is changing the script when it comes to children’s dentistry.
Our modern, state-of-the-art practice in Reading offers a calm and nurturing environment that shifts away from the traditional dental setting to make the visit enjoyable for kids and relaxing for parents/carers.
We offer various types of paediatric dental treatments, covering treatments from prevention to complex extractions under sedation. A range of endodontic treatments, such as Root Canal Therapy, is also available, and you can rest assured that we offer precision on baby teeth as we use a dental microscope which allows us to offer excellent treatment quality.
Newborn children can be born with a condition called tongue tie which can often cause difficulty in latching on and breastfeeding appropriately; it also causes tongue movement restrictions which can often lead to a stressful time for both the mother and child. At Olive Tree, we can usually correct this with a straightforward procedure which is known as a frenectomy. We will advise you when it is best to have this procedure, and usually, the earlier, the better, as it can, at times, lead to speech difficulties and digestive issues further down the line if left untreated.
Older children can also have a tongue or lip tie, and it can go undetected for some time until other symptoms start surfacing. Things to look out for are if your child often grinds his or her teeth at night or has difficulty sleeping due to snoring or sleep-disordered breathing, which causes a lot of unsettlement, sleepless nights and restlessness. Multiple factors could be contributing to these issues, such as having large tonsils in addition to the tongue tie; the best solution is to bring your child into the practice for a child-patient exam so that we can assess what the best course of action is, often a simple in-practice procedure will improve the quality of sleep, in addition to reducing teeth-grinding.
The equipment at Olive Tree Dental is designed with children’s safety in mind, from the lowest radiation digital imaging (X-Rays) to offering sedation for children that might need support in getting over dental phobia to ensure comfortable and safe treatments.

Our team is striving to build a reputation for providing quality dental care for both children and adults. We are active within our local community and often host oral health & hygiene awareness days for children from a young age at nursery to try to educate children on the importance of maintaining positive oral health habits. We provide parents with goodie bags for the children, with tips for both children and their parents & carers to recommend that brushing your teeth can be a quality family fun time that is enjoyed.
We are proud to have recently partnered with The Mad House next door to allow for a stress-free dental treatment without worrying about child care. Parents can receive a complimentary* 2-hour play slot for up to two children if they are a patient who is booked in for treatment lasting 1 – 2 hours on Saturdays, during term time and during school holidays. We have arranged pre-bookable half-day and full-day supervised holiday clubs in addition to parent & child designated free parking spaces during your visit (for up to 4 hours).
